I work in dance to bring people joy

Movement brings people joy. Moving creatively and rhythmically with others takes that joy into entirely new dimensions.

I have known this since the age of four, when in my first dance lesson an indescribable sense of liberation came over me. I was free, discovering new ways to express myself in an environment that actively encouraged it. I was awakened to the aliveness of my body, attuned to my heart thumping loudly in my chest and the energy vibrating through my veins.

Dancing helps us to live in the present. It helps us to connect more deeply with one another and experience our common humanity. Just as importantly, it enables us move through and overcome life’s challenges.

That is why I do what I do. I bring more dance to more people, taking the art form into unexplored places to build creative and caring communities. This requires ambition and empathy in equal parts. I see opportunities where others do not and treat challenges as catalysts for innovation, but I balance my tenacity with kindness, remembering that dance is a sincere and personal experience.

Above all, I believe in evolution. I question elitist systems and encourage dance artists to explore new terrain. I see dance as essential to human flourishing and through my work communicate the difference it makes in people’s lives.
